Wire and cable standards developed by HUIT are designed to assist departments as they plan for change and expansion. By following these standards, departments and the University can take advantage of the expanding array of new network technologies.
The University's "open architecture" approach provides a framework upon which a wide variety of technologies can be built—including voice, data, fax, graphic, wireless, VoIP, and image transport. Adhering to wire and cable standards also helps provide better customer service at a lower cost.
